Sunday Funday

I’ve always loved the ocean. I got my scuba license in high school, but being a poor student made it difficult to dive very often. My last dive was on the Great Barrier Reef just outside Airlie Beach in 2006 when my brother came visiting when I was studying photography in Australia. Then nothing until January 2023 when I discovered the Fjord CleanUP organization on Instagram and joined almost immediately. Fjord CleanUP is a social group with many international people who gather (almost) every single Sunday to freedive and pick up trash from the inner Oslo Fjord. We clean for about an hour (+/- depending on the weather) before we head into the sauna to relax and get treated with burgers from fancy burger joint Døgnvill. If you’re into having fun and getting new friends in Oslo, I recommend joining the party.

Our base is located in Bjørvika, but these photos are from our cleanup at Tjuvholmen on October 13th.
